6 ways you've been washing your hair wrong this whole time
AT THIS HOUR of your life, you probably don’t even think about washing your hair.
It’s just second nature to you.
But there are probably some things you’re doing wrong.
Like…
1. It’s better to condition your hair your before you shampoo

For as long as we can remember, we’ve been taught to shampoo then condition. But apparently that might not be the optimum way to wash your hair. Nina Dimachki of Kérastase explains to Refinery29:
Dimachki states that people with highlight, dyed or greasy hair could benefit from conditioning first. Who knew?
2. Washing your hair every day is absolutely not necessary

You only need to wash it every couple of days. Otherwise, you’re stripping your hair of natural oils and feeding into a vicious circle.
So how often do you need to wash it? Stylist Don Sharp told Stylist that every few days does the job.
Hey, at least it’s another excuse to sleep in late, right?
3. Only shampoo your scalp

Avoid shampooing or conditioning all the way through. Instead, just shampoo your scalp and condition from midway down your hair.
Per Stylist:
4. And don’t use too much of it either

Sure, it’s tempting to squirt a big blob of shampoo the size of your hand, but in reality you only need a dollop the size of a 20c coin. (Unless you have long/thick hair, that is.)
5. Don’t apply conditioner while your hair is soaking wet

Either towel dry your hair or wring it out before applying conditioner, otherwise your hair will be too wet to absorb it properly.
6. Make sure the water temperature is just right

Wash and condition your hair in warm water (not boiling hot) and rinse out the conditioner with cold water. The cold water will add shine and seal in moisture, while the warm water will rid your hair of all that DIRT.
So now you know.
